The oldest part of the Old Town complex in Toruń (the other two are Nowe Miasto and the Teutonic castle), bounded by the streets of Fosa Staromiejska, pl. Teatralny, street Podmurna and city walls from the side of the Vistula. Most of Toruń's most valuable monuments are located in the Old Town. The oldest part of the Old Town was marked out after 1236. This is its current southern part, in medieval sources called the island - verder, with the square on which later the church of St. St. Janow. They were enlarged to their present size between 1252 and 1259. The center is the Old Town Square with the town hall.
