The monumental Old Town Hall standing in the middle of the Old Town Square is one of the largest, most magnificent buildings of this type in Europe. It is a true monument to the splendor of Toruń, the former Hanseatic trading emporium. It was established at the end of the fourteenth century, i.e. during the peak of medieval development of the Old Town of Toruń, based on the privilege of the Grand Master of the Teutonic Knights, Konrad von Wallenrode. Today, the Old Town Hall is the seat of the District Museum, whose collections perfectly illustrate the former splendor of Toruń and its high artistic culture. There are several large exhibitions inside, but also the equipment of the Town Hall itself is noteworthy. Inside you will find a rich gallery of paintings, and in it a few really great items, such as the Portrait of Karol Chodkiewicz by Leon Kapliński or the monumental image of Torunian Marian Jaroczyński "Second Treaty of Toruń" from 1873. Generally a large museum and a lot of walking, but it's worth it. Like a typical museum, but there are many interesting paintings and the City Hall from the inside makes the same good impression as from the outside. While visiting the Town Hall, one cannot overlook the tower and the beautiful panorama of the entire Old Town in Toruń.
