Built on a horseshoe plan, the earliest Teutonic castle in Chełmno. The building was completed in the second quarter of the 14th century. In 1454 the castle was taken by the Toruń burghers and then almost completely destroyed. These events ushered in the Thirteen Years' War. Of the buildings of the main castle, the toilet tower (gdanisko) with the porch leading to it, the moat, the lower parts of the walls of the ground floor and the octagonal tower and basements have survived to this day. In the area of ​​the outer bailey, buildings related to the castle have survived - the former hospital and upper mill, as well as significant sections of the outer bailey walls with several gates. The basement of the main castle is the biggest tourist attraction. Most permanent exhibitions regarding the life of religious brothers were placed there in the Middle Ages. In the castle moat, the International Theater Festival "Kontakt" and the International Christian Music Festival Song of Songs are organized. In the 2012 season, a new attraction of the castle was launched - "Komturia" light-sound spectacle, which is a reference to a similar form of the 1960s spectacle. It is an open-air spectacle combining elements of the game with light and sound telling the story of the Teutonic Order and Toruń's Teutonic period.
