One of the most beautiful baroque tenement houses in Toruń was built in the second half of the 13th century as a typical Gothic style house. At the end of the 15th century, the building was owned by Filippo Buonaccorsi, an Italian tutor of the sons of Kazimierz Jagiellończyk. The townhouse owes its magnificent baroque decor to a wealthy merchant and the mayor of the city, Jan Zöbner. On his initiative, the tenement house was rebuilt in 1697 in a style using the features of Italian Baroque. The object was enriched by a richly decorated portal. The facade was decorated with flowers and fruit motifs, made of stucco. Inside, in the hall of the building, there are spiral staircases of Gdansk type, guarded by the figure of Minerva and the lion holding the shield. In the years 1967–69 restoration and conservation works were carried out here, consisting in adapting the interior of the tenement house for museum purposes.
